We talk specifically about Oprah because she is very different than any other media. The most-important thing that people forget first is to be yourself. Especially when you start looking at how did that person act on Oprah or maybe I should emulate them. What any TV producer and host is looking for most is:
- Are you natural?
- Are you credible?
- Are you likable?
- Do we believe you?
- Is your product or your service or your cause something that we can really get behind?
- Can you convey it in a manner that is compelling to our audience?
One of the things that makes an effective show on Oprah that the producers really love, is can it make their audience cry? Are you somebody who can tell a story in such a compelling way that you bring their audience to tears?
That is not typical for other shows in the industry, but it is typical for Oprah. On the other hand, too, you want to be able to make them laugh. You do not want to leave people in that sad, crying state, but they want people who can move their audience, and every TV producer wants that.
